The movie Syriana. I watched most of it today on a movie channel. What a cool movie. For some of you its old news, but I think Syriana is worthy of a watch.

Re: The Evolution of Cinema
Fri, January 18, 2008 - 4:19 PMMy walk today had me thinking about Cruise starring in Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, and that had me thinking that:
1. Will Cruise one day work with David Lynch?
2. Do we all have another 40 years of cinematic life owed to technological society?
3. Will we cheer in the privacy of our homes some years from NOW as something on screen reveals something as yet unrevealed on our television sets?

Re: The Evolution of Cinema
Sat, January 19, 2008 - 9:18 AMHow about 'if Tom Cruise arrived at my own door, anxious and confused, how would I treat the man?' Physician, Heal Thyself. What is our relationship to this apparently wealthy, apparently famous man who has lived and breathed and learned alongside us all for these last for decades of time? What stranger comes seeking my loving-kindness at this time and place?'
Thank you for being literate in English.

Re: The Evolution of Cinema
Sat, January 19, 2008 - 9:31 AMWe may well substitute Cruise for any of the lovely starletts of our day, of course, for the 'distressed human' theory question.

Sat, January 19, 2008 - 9:34 AMand yes, the film Syriana plays a part in all of this. No doubt about that. -

Re: The Evolution of Cinema
Sat, January 19, 2008 - 8:45 PMTonight Letters of Iwo Jima. Masterful direction. What a film. I like war from this distance, thank you very much.
How about the blinded General saying he's tired of sharing the cave with all of them and is a one man show from now on?
Deep gratitude to all involved!
Namaste and Love Always,

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: The Evolution of Cinema
Sat, January 19, 2008 - 9:53 PMJarhead. Once again, war the way i like to see it. acted, scripted, as theory-driven as the clash of any battle in the Bhagavad Gita. -

Re: The Evolution of Cinema
Tue, January 22, 2008 - 3:47 PMSo I find myself watching the first hour of Syriana, which I had not yet seen. Knowing where it's all headed (i.e. the climax at the end of the film) has actually intensified the suspense for me. -

Fri, February 15, 2008 - 3:03 PMoh John! Actors Studio is so fascinating! Such depth in questions posed to our beloved actors and actresses, such insights into our collective human mystery. 'All the world's a stage...' indeed. -

Re: The Evolution of Cinema
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 11:54 AMI sense shades of The Man in the High Tower in plots like these. Brilliant cuts to the architecture of the city's institutions. The symbols of such pagan and warlike significance.
